Terms of Use
Last updated · 17 June 2026
These terms cover your use of Backdrop. Backdrop is an independent project. No company, no investors, no advertisers. By using the app, you agree to what’s below. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Backdrop.
Using Backdrop
Backdrop is a camera for the things you choose to keep. You may use it for your own personal, lawful purposes. Please don’t misuse it. That means no using Backdrop to break the law, to capture people or places where you have no right to, to interfere with how the app works, or to reverse-engineer, resell, or rebuild it as your own.
What you capture is yours
Everything you capture and keep belongs to you. Backdrop doesn’t claim ownership of your photos, clips, recordings, or notes. You’re responsible for what you capture and for having the right to capture it, so use good judgment about people, private spaces, and anything sensitive.
Your account
You can use Backdrop signed out. If you sign in to sync your shelf across devices, keep your sign-in secure. It’s what lets your shelf follow you. You can delete your account, and the content synced with it, from inside the app at any time.
Purchases
If Backdrop offers anything paid, purchases are handled by Apple under Apple’s own terms, and any billing, renewals, and refunds follow Apple’s rules. We’ll always make the price and what you get clear before you buy.
Backdrop is provided as-is
We work to keep Backdrop reliable, but it is offered as-is, without warranties of any kind. We can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, and Backdrop isn’t a backup service. Keep your own copies of anything you can’t afford to lose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Backdrop and its developer aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the app, including lost captures or data. Some places don’t allow these limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.
Ending your use
You can stop using Backdrop, and delete your account, whenever you like. We may suspend or limit access if it’s necessary to protect the app or other people, for example, in the case of abuse or unlawful use.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and note the change in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
